Parking information for visitors

The Student Union at The University of Akron

We welcome thousands of visitors to our beautiful campus every year.

Before you visit, please review your parking options and select the one that best suits your needs. If you are not sure, just give us a call we are happy to walk you through your options! All vehicles parked on campus must display a valid parking permit or park in meters or visitor garages and pay prevailing hourly rates. If you are visiting campus for more than a few hours, your best option is to purchase a one-day permit (details below).

Getting to campus


Parking options for visitors

There are three options for visitors parking on campus: 

  1. One-day pass | You can purchase a one-day parking pass in the Parking and Transportation Services Office for $8. The Parking and Transportation Services Office is located in Parking Deck North (also known as the "North Campus Parking Deck"), on the Buchtel Avenue level ). The entrance is located on Buchtel Avenue (on the outside of the deck) not far from the bridge. This is the recommended option if you are planning on visiting campus for more than a few hours. Our offices are open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (4:30 p.m. during summer)
  2. Gated visitor lot | You can park in our . under the Robertson Dining Hall and across the street from the Parking and Transportation Office. You will take a ticket as you enter the garage and pay the parking attendant when you leave. The rate is $0.50 per 15 minutes with a maximum of $8 for the day. 
  3. Parking meter | You can park at one of the metered parking spaces located throughout campus for use by anyone. The rate is $0.25 per 15 minutes. The yellow triangles on this map show the locations of the meters.

Anyone visiting the Parking Office for only the purpose of purchasing a permit may park in the gated visitor lot on Buchtel Avenue (directly across from the Parking Office) free of charge.

If you do this, please bring the ticket that you received from the dispenser to the Parking Office for validation.

If the visitor lot is full, then legal parking may be found at a meter. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse you for money used at a meter.
