Dr. Alexa Fox Recognized as 2024-25 Outstanding Researcher at ¹ú²ú¾«Æ·
As previously announced by the University of Akron's University Council Special Committee on Awards and Recognition, 12 individuals will be recognized at the 2025 ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Achievement Awards ceremony.
“Through their teaching, research and service – and through their commitment to the student experience, diversity and community relationship building – these individuals have made a difference to our students, our campus and our community,” shared the committee.
Among the recipients, Dr. Alexa Fox, associate professor of marketing, will receive the 2024-25 Outstanding Researcher Award for Early Achievement in Research. This award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in research early in their professional career.
Fox’s research interests include digital marketing, user-generated content, online privacy, sharenting,, and psychological measurement of cognition and emotion. Much of her academic research focuses on online privacy – specifically sharenting, or sharing one's child via social media. Her work was the first to demonstrate that parents willingly provide their children’s personally identifiable information in response to a brand’s social media marketing engagement efforts.
“I am very humbled to receive the ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· 2024-25 Outstanding Researcher Award for Early Achievement in Research,” said Fox. “So many individuals have impacted my experiences at The University of Akron, both as a two-time alumna and now a professor. I am grateful for the impact they have made on my career. Special thanks to Dr. Vanja Djuric-Zoric, Associate Dean Debmalya Mukherjee, and my Ph.D. co-advisor Dr. George Deitz for their support in this process. I look forward to continuing my work on brand/consumer digital interactions, especially in the context of online privacy, emphasizing implications for marketing, consumer welfare, and society.”
