Armstrong, Barbara N. Scholarship in Family Studies
The endowed Barbara N. Armstrong Scholarship in Family Studies was originally established in 1981 by graduate assistants in the Department of Home Economics and Family Ecology in honor of Barbara N. Armstrong, Ph.D., professor emerita of home economics and former head of the department who retired in 1989. An outstanding teacher, deeply committed to the pursuit of knowledge, Dr. Armstrong was the rare teacher who could make learning fun and who gave her students gifts that will last a lifetime. The scholarship is to be awarded annually to a deserving undergraduate student seeking a degree in family or child development or child-life studies. Recipients of the award are to be determined by the Scholarship Committee in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences in conjunction with the Office of Student Financial Aid. Financial need and academic excellence are the primary requisites.
