Alpeter, James E. and Margaret A. Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Music

The James E. and Margaret A. Alpeter Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Music was created in 1998 to recognize their many contributions to The University of Akron and the Akron community. James, a prominent Akron attorney, was a graduate of The University of Akron and Western Reserve Law School. Margaret, a classical pianist, was a graduate of Oberlin College and the Juilliard School of Music. The earnings from this endowment will be used to provide scholarship assistance to recruit an outstanding student planning to major in music or for a current student enrolled in the School of Music. Preference will be given to a student studying piano, but the scholarship is not restricted to a piano major.
