Firestone, Raymond C. Bequest
The University of Akron Foundation was the recipient of a gift in 1995 from the estate of Raymond C. Firestone, former chairman of The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and son of its founder, Harvey S. Firestone. Interest from The Raymond C. Firestone Bequest is used to fund the maintenance and acquisition of scientific and research equipment for the University's College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering. Distribution of such funds are at the discretion of the dean of the college.
