Koza Family Memorial Scholarship in Education
The Koza Family Memorial Scholarship in Education, previously known as The Sharon M. Koza Memorial Scholarship in Education, was created in loving memory of Sharon by her husband, John, and colleagues and friends. Sharon was a graduate of Garfield High School and received a B.S. in elementary education from The University of Akron in 1973. She taught in the Akron Public School system for 30 years. This fund was renamed in 2013 as a means to honor the entire Koza family and thereby extend the legacy of the Koza family name.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to a College of Education student who is also a graduate of Akron Public Schools. Preference will be given to a student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The recipient will be chosen by a member of the Koza family in conjunction with the College of Education’s Office of Student Affairs or the University’s Office of Financial Aid.
