College of Business Administration Summer Scholarships

The College of Business Administration Summer Scholarships was established in April 2020 through The University of Akron College of Business Administration Dean's Office, and funded by the generosity of alumni and friends of the College. Its aim is to increase enrollment and support student success in several distinct ways:

  1. To strengthen enrolled students whose academic performance would be helped by the benefit of a single summer school course. Approximately 30 percent of CBA students carry between 2.0 and 3.0 grade point averages (GPAs) by the end of their first year.

  2. Allow more students to enroll in a CBA internship course and receive full academic credit for their summer experiences. Approximately 65% of CBA students engage in Summer Internship Programs but do not register for internship credit due to hardship.

  3. Support Summer Business Academy students by bringing in approximately 20 students with lower performance numbers from high school, and immersing them in two credit-bearing courses to aid their preparation for collegiate coursework.

Recipients of The College of Business Administration Summer Scholarships may be full-time or part-time students enrolled in any CBA degree program. Selection will be determined by recommendations from The College's academic advisors and faculty members, with the Dean's Office making final selection. Scholarship amounts and timing of distributions will be determined as funds are available.
