Eisenzimmer, Joseph W. and Marie F. Scholarship
The Joseph W. and Marie F. Eisenzimmer Scholarship honors the memory of Mr. Eisenzimmer's sister, Mary (Eisenzimmer) Mead, and their childhood growing up in Akron. The University's proximity and reasonable costs enabled Mr. Eisenzimmer to pursue a college education. A World War II veteran, Mr. Eisenzimmer graduated from the University in 1947 with a major in political science and many fond memories of his membership in Pi Kappa Epsilon (Lone Star) fraternity. Although he and his wife reside in Chicago, where they established a successful business, their interest in education and the University remains constant.
The Joseph W. and Marie F. Eisenzimmer Scholarship supports students from the Akron region who require financial assistance to complete their degree at The University of Akron. Mr. and Mrs. Eisenzimmer are sympathetic to students who must work one, two, and sometimes even three jobs to fund their college career and, therefore, wish to support students who are hardworking, dedicated, and ambitious.
The University is fortunate to have the support of Mr. and Mrs. Eisenzimmer and pleased to be able to establish a legacy in their name to pass on to future generations.
