Fisher III, James Lee Scholarship Fund
Mr. James Lee "Jim'' Fisher was an Akron, Ohio native, born April 10, 1944 to James Lee, Jr. and Maxine Fisher. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering and his law degree from The University of Akron. A distinguished attorney with the Akron law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs, Mr. Fisher also worked for the City of Akron Planning Department, as well as Al Spaulding Associates.
Dedicated to the constant improvement of his community, Mr. Fisher was active in the Copley Lions Club and served on the Associate Board of Stan Hywet Hall Foundation. An active member of Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ, he also was an avid Ohio State University Buckeye fan.
A treasured friend of The University of Akron since 1971, Mr. Fisher had designated gifts to athletics, the ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Marching band, Pacesetters, University library and general scholarships. A member of Hilltoppers/Buchtelles, Mr. Fisher also supported numerous memorial scholarships.
He passed away September 14, 2009 after a short illness. His wife, Nancy Lorenz Fisher, preceded him in death. She was a 1982 graduate of The University of Akron with a master's of science degree in technical education.
